This iconic photo of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team Color Guard at attention was taken at the recognition ceremony ordered by General John Dahlquist on November 12, 1944, after over a month of non-stop combat in the Vosges area of France. It included the liberation of Bruyères and Biffontaine, the rescue of the "Lost Battalion," and nine days of driving the Germans through the forest. Courtesy of the United States Army Signal Corps.
